With all due respect to Buddy the Elf, “singing loud for all to hear” isn’t always the best way to spread Christmas cheer. You can also invest in endless strings of colorful lights, illuminated Santas, inflatable Abominable Snowmen, and more, than decorate the literal blazes out of your otherwise humble home or business. Voila: Christmas cheer achieved!
Now, for the recognition: The Chippewa Valley Parade of Lights is inviting homeowners and businesses in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and Altoona to enter its annual holiday decorating contest by midnight on Dec. 15.
The contest focuses on exterior decorations only, and judging is based on “curb appeal” as viewed from the street. Judging will be conducted Dec. 20-22, with winners chosen in the following categories: Best Use of Lights, Most Entertaining, Most Creative Theme, Judges Choice, and Peoples Choice.
Displays entered into the contest are added to an online map, allowing residents to easily find the Valley’s best and brightest.
