Rush River Folk Festival Brings Locals Along
The Midwest must be in some kind of music festival fever dream. This year we get to add the second annual Rush River Folk Festival to the calendar, which starts on May 23 at 1pm and continues all the way until sundown. The festival will see some already established and returning acts like Heatherlyn, a Minneapolis-based crowd favorite from last year’s festival. Also playing is Durand’s Little Wing, a group featuring the vocal power of Faith Ulwelling and piano accompaniment from Tim Caswell. Chippewa Valley locals Yata, Davey J, and Larry Past will help round out the eight-hour long roots, blues and folk Americana bonanza. It’s a great way to kick off the Memorial Day weekend, support some local music, or just grab a beer or a glass of wine and chill out next to the beautiful Rush River in Maide Rock. Also, it’s not often you find a brick oven-fired pizza at a music festival grounds. So bring a lawn chair or a blanket and take advantage of the (fingers crossed) nice summer weather. Oh yeah, did I mention there’s no admission charge?
