Meet the Best – Green Oasis
Want a more comfortable, lush outdoor environment? The experts at Green Oasis can help
As a consumer weighing your choices, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed – whether it’s in the grocery aisle, the online marketplace, or when considering who to call to help with your outdoor needs.
Fortunately, whether they want to irrigate their laws, create lush landscaping, control pests, defeat weeds, fill flowerbeds, or even clear away snow, there’s one business that Chippewa Valley residents can reach out to: Green Oasis in Lake Hallie.
Since 1978, Green Oasis has been keeping local lawns green, and over the years it has expanded to offer a wide range of outdoor-related products and services. Chippewa Valley residents have taken notice: In Volume One’s latest Best of the Chippewa Valley Reader Poll, voters chose Green Oasis as No. 1 in Pest Control, No. 1 as Best Irrigation and Lawn Sprinkler Business, and No. 1 as Best Holiday Decorating Company.
Green Oasis also found itself on the medal stand for Best Lawn Care, Best Landscaping, Best Garden Center, and Best Snow Removal.
In other words, if Green Oasis offers a service to customers, it aims to be the best.

OWNER, GREEN OASIS
Wayne Bollinger and his wife, Julie, have owned the business, which began as Greener Grass Systems, since 1982. Wayne started working there in 1978, when he was still in high school. “This is our 45th season, and I do love what I do,” Wayne said. “I don’t mind getting dirty. As a matter of fact, I enjoy that every now and then.”
These days, however, Wayne spends most of his time overseeing a team of specialists who work together to create vibrant outdoor spaces for customers. “We have a number of experts in their fields, from landscape designers to plant personnel, people that manage our greenhouses and our retail operations,” he said. These professionals’ knowledge is available to any customer who walks through the door, whether they’re interested in planting shrubs, designing decks, or creating custom irrigation systems.
While based in Lake Hallie, Green Oasis reaches beyond the Chippewa Valley, serving customers from Rice Lake and Hayward to Black River Falls, Hudson, River Falls, and across the state line into Minnesota.
While the company’s footprint has grown, much about lawn care has remained the same over the decades. “People are looking for good green color, lush turf, a golf course-type look and feel, and less weeds,” Wayne explained. However, the pandemic shifted priorities for some people, who found themselves spending more time at home in recent years and decided to make the most of it. “That outdoor living space has become very important to people and to pets,” he said.
Customers these days are also more collaborative in creating their ideal outdoor environments. “I think people are seeing this as more of a partnership, so to speak,” Wayne said. “They have their role, we have our role, Mother Nature has her role, and we work with each other to make the best of what they have.”
