“5 in 3/4 Time” (2022) 24” x 36” Luminance colored pencils on 90# Vellum paper by Patricia A. Hawkenson • From the artist: “I enjoy creating images with a sense of whimsy that celebrate bold color choices. ‘5 in 3/4 Time’ is a reference to dance music and five characters sketched in 3/4 profile – often considered the most difficult profile angle to sketch. Like most of my images at this 24" x 36" size, it takes approximately three weeks to complete the sketch and layered coloring.
“Besides creating commissioned images, I have illustrated two adult coloring books, Color Eau Claire, and Color the Chequamegon Bay. Currently, I am illustrating a version for younger coloring enthusiasts, Junior Edition – Color the Chippewa Valley with hopes to publish in 2023.
