STICK AROUND: The Wisconsin DNR State Park Sticker Contest Now Open
if you're a high-schooler with talent to spare, your art could be on the DNR’s vehicle passes
Want to showcase your art on over 500,000 Wisconsin vehicles? Demonstrate your artistic talent and passion for Wisconsin’s natural wonders, animals, and plants!
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is hunting down a winning design for the 2024 State Park and Forest vehicle admission sticker. The annual DNR-sponsored design contest is accepting entries from all high school-age students in Wisconsin attending public, private, and parochial schools, as well as homeschooled students.
“The admission sticker design contest is a wonderful opportunity for high schoolers across the state to blend their artistic creativity and interest in our natural resources, and to see that creativity on hundreds of thousands of cars across the state,” said Steve Schmelzer, Parks and Recreation Management Bureau director. “We are grateful for all of the students who submit artwork. It’s never an easy choice to pick just one design.”
If you’ve been to a state park this year, you’ve seen what a winning design looks like! Brooke Salomone of Brookfield East High School won last year’s design contest. Salomone’s artwork features a compass with a creative twist, showcasing different recreational themes found throughout Wisconsin’s state parks.
“Brooke’s creative design incorporates wildlife, recreation, water, and open space, all of which are elements of the Wisconsin State Park System from north to south, east to west, and everywhere in between,” Schmelzer said.
Salomone’s design was selected from more than 250 entries and is currently displayed on hundreds of thousands of vehicles across the state.
Materials for the 2024 sticker design contest are now available, and students can submit entries through midnight of April 30, 2023.
