CultureFest to Bring Culture, Conviviality to Campus
annual event slated for Davies Center on April 30
UW-Eau Claire will be hosting its locally anticipated CultureFest 2023 on Sunday, April 30, from 2-5pm in the Davies Center on campus, where community members can come enjoy a plethora of cuisine representing international diversity in the Chippewa Valley and Upper Midwest.
Working in cooperation with the university’s Center for International Education, a host of communal organizations will be present. The current list of participants and representatives includes the Bahai'i Faith; Chippewa Valley Irish Dance; the Minnesota Taiwanese Foundation; the Waldemar Ager Association; Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners, and many more.
A number of student-run groups are also taking part in the festivities: Members from the Korean Student Association, Malaysians Abroad Diversified, and Uzbekistan Scholars are just a few of those eager for CultureFest.
Alongside food and refreshments, visitors have the chance to observe an exciting variety of entertainment. The main event will be a performance centered around Jawahir Music, Culture and Dance with additional performances featuring Swan Lake Ballet, Ukrainian Dance, and a string quartet from the Council for Internationalization and Global Engagement. International UWEC Alumni Ben Kyriagis will also be present, giving a talk about his memoir Don’t Marry an American, published back in October 2021.
So who needs 80 days for a trip around the world when you could do it here all in one day?!
Admission to CultureFest 2023 is free for all community members. For more information, maps and directions to the Davies Center, head online to visiteauclaire.com/event/culturefest
