Campers of All Ages Invited to Camp Manitou for 100th Anniversary Party
YMCA camp will celebrate a century on Aug. 19

Since 1923, YMCA Camp Manitou has been helping kids from near and far make amazing summertime memories in the woods of western Wisconsin. Now, to celebrate its centennial, Camp Manitou is hosting an anniversary party on Saturday, Aug. 19, and current and past campers, former staff members, friends, and community members are invited.
The celebration will feature an all-day gathering at the camp on Long Lake outside New Auburn.
“Throughout the day there will be a wide range of activities happening around camp for everyone to join in at their pace and interest,” the YMCA of the Chippewa Valley said. “In addition we will lead optional activities throughout the day, including a mud hike, and camp games. In the evening we will all gather for dinner, music, and stories of camp.”
The fun will begin Aug. 19 at 10am with open swimming and boating, games in the field, arts and crafts, camp history, and camp tours. After lunch, there will be a celebration with birthday cake, followed by more games and fun on land and water beginning at 2pm. Campers will be able to take part in the infamous mud hike at 3pm. Following dinner at 5:30pm, there will be music in the north field, camp stories, and a farewell and singing of “Taps” at 8:30pm.
Attendees are encouraged to sign up by Tuesday, Aug. 1, to reserve their spots. Pricing is $40 per person, which includes two meals, and all funds raised will support sending kids to camp in the future. However, discounts are available. In addition, Camp Manitou lovers can make a weekend out of it, and stay Friday through Sunday: The cost will be $130 per person for staying in a cabin and $80 per person for tent camping.
