TIME TO SHINE: Dance Auditions in Sept. for ‘Nutcracker’ Collaboration

The Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra and Diamond School of Dance will join forces to present an enchanting show of excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker,” auditions opening for young dancers on Sept. 16 in Eau Claire.
The collaboration promises to captivate audiences of all ages, transporting them to the enchanting Land of Sweets through the artistry of the dancers and the soaring sounds of the Symphony. The magical event will feature stunning costumes, exquisite choreography crafted by SK Stone – an instructor at Diamond School of Dance – and the heartwarming spirit of the holiday season, according to a recent media release.
Intermediate and advanced level dancers are invited to audition for the Nutcracker Dreams performance, the production offering young dancers the opportunity to shine in iconic roles such as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Spanish, Arabian, Chinese, Russian, Mirlitons, Mother Ginger, Waltz of the Flowers, and the Dew Drop Fairy, the media release said.
“Connecting and collaborating with other arts organizations to bring our community together in a celebration of the arts is something we are really passionate about,” Alicia Knopps, owner of Diamond School of Dance, said. “We are thrilled to once again share the stage with the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra and for the incredible experience this will be for dancers in our community!”
The auditions for the Nutcracker Dreams performance will be on Saturday, Sept 16, at Diamond School of Dance. Ages 10-12 will audition at 10am; Ages 13+ at 11am; Ages 6-9 at 12:30pm. Girls are asked to wear a black leotard, pink tights, and wear their hair pulled back in a neat bun. Boys are asked to wear blank pants and a white T-shirt.
