‘DEAR DAY DEAR DARLING’: Good Morning Bedlam to Release New EP
five-song EP will be released on all streaming platforms on Sept. 29
Minneapolis-based musical duo and Blue Ox Music Festival frequent flyers, Good Morning Bedlam, are releasing their newest EP, Dear Day Dear Darling, on Sept. 29. The new five-song EP will explore a pop-Americana sound not yet ventured by the band.
Good Morning Bedlam consists of a husband-and-wife duo, Isaak and Victoria Elker, who are excited to introduce a heavily pop-inspired version of themselves with this EP, with bigger percussion sounds and catchy, upbeat, layered vocals – most prominently heard in “All My Friends” and “Sticks & Stones,” which were released as singles and are available for streaming now. While Good Morning Bedlam is known for its sonic diversity, they still embrace their original folk roots that have made them so successful in the Midwest (See: “Elemental” and “Vampire Girl” from the new EP).
At its core, Good Morning Bedlam is fronted by Isaak and Tori, but this EP also features Katherine Altreuter (violin) – who hails from Eau Claire – Sophia Mae (violin, vocals), and Dawson Redenius (trumpet, keys), who all have roots in the band.
Dear Day Dear Darling has been in the works for about a year and a half, but one particular song, “Letter to A Savior,” which is one of the two songs that weren't released as singles, has been a brainchild of Isaak’s since high school, slowly evolving over time. The slower ballad showcases Isaak’s incredible vocals blended with soft acoustics.
“Basically every year I take (the song) out and I work on it and then I’d say I just can’t figure out what I’m trying to do with it,” Isaak explained. “So I put it away and so now 10 years later – I started when I was 17 and I’m 27 now – and it’s finally coming out.”
To celebrate the release of Dear Day Dear Darling, the duo will be touring throughout the Southeast – including Alabama, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and more – and ending back in the Midwest. Local fans, take note: They will perform in Eau Claire on Dec. 2 at The Plus (208 S. Barstow St., Eau Claire).
