Heyde Center Closes In On Fundraising Goal For More Parking
$252K goal would fund the creation of nearly 30 additional accessible parking spaces for art center
The Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls, managed by The Chippewa Valley Cultural Center Inc., has raised around 85% of the funds needed to create 27 additional, accessible parking spots on the north side of the center. The project comes with a $252,870 price tag, which means about $38,000 is still needed.
The Heyde Center publicly launched the fundraiser on Nov. 15 with hopes of breaking ground on the project in late summer or early fall 2024.
Current lack of nearby on-site and off-street parking has been a significant limitation on the Heyde Center’s ability to host arts events, business workshops, and conferences, as well as special events such as weddings. It has also limited the center’s ability to accommodate buses for school events, assisted living vans, and bus tour performances.
The current 26 parking spaces were deemed inadequate by the center, and with the additional 27 spaces – effectively doubling the parking – off-street parking would open up as well, allowing for upwards of 50 additional attendees to park nearby.
