MAKES SENSE: Disability Resource Fair Coming to L.E. Phillips Library
SENSE parent and teacher org to put on resource fair on March 12
SENSE (Supportive Education, Networking, Strength, and Empowerment) will host a Resource Fair for families and individuals with visible or invisible disabilities on Tuesday, March 12, from 4-6:30pm at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire. Attendees can expect behavioral support, legal advice, financial planning, or simply connecting with other families in similar situations. This event provides a platform for meaningful interaction, welcoming attendees of all ages and backgrounds.
The fair is also a chance for families to connect with other families who may face similar trials and successes. According to one of the co-creators of SENSE, Kelly Hendricksen, the event will address the crucial needs within the community. “Finding resources can be difficult when you don’t know where to look,” Hendrickson said. Her sentiment recognizes the importance of resources, support, and solutions.
Hendrickson emphasizes the event’s intent on critical community needs, “It’s important that students with disabilities have access to resources in support of postsecondary learning options, employment, and independent living.” The resource fair will provide a space where attendees can ask questions, make valuable connections, and find the answers they need. It is open to all, and organizers are extending an inclusive invitation.
The Resource Fair will also feature local organizations and groups, including ECASD Transition Services, the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin, LSS-Connections, My Choice Wisconsin, LGBTQIA+ Resources, Vocational Rehabilitation, and more.
