Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a message.“Clutching Pearls” by Patricia A. Hawkenson
Patricia A. Hawkenson is still eyeing that Crayon 64 box with a built-in sharpener.
“Clutching Pearls” • Luminance Colored Pencils on 90# Vellum paper • From the artist: “The phrase ‘Clutching Pearls’ relates to people who are overly dramatic in their reactions to events or images – much like advertising inflatables that contort into dramatic poses as they try to draw attention from people passing by. Sometimes it feels that I go to dramatic lengths to have people see my art and to appreciate joy in the simple act of coloring. I am usually known for my art with local themes, but I also enjoy creating whimsical images - just for the pure fun of it. Regardless of the drama around me, I am working in my studio at The 1106, usually Tuesday through Saturday, 10 – 4, and I would love to have community input on my latest creations.”
