This sibling duo from Chippewa Falls went to state this year – for bowling! Siblings Ethan and Mackenzie Krause from Chippewa Falls Sr. High School brought their bowling talents to the state tournament held March 1-3 at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in Green Bay. Their school held a send-off ceremony for the two on Tuesday, Feb. 27, wishing them success. This was senior Ethan’s fourth and final year competing at the state tournament. Both competitors were joined by their dad, Brian Krause, who is Chippewa Falls’ bowling coach.

Don’t call it a comeback, the UW-Stout Women’s Basketball team made it to the NCAA tournament after a tough start to the season. Recovering from their six losses midseason, the Blue Devils turned it around to win their next nine games which included the WIAC Championship game against UW-Oshkosh. The team played against Washington University on March 1 for their first matchup in the tournament and won 71-61. Their game on March 2 against the University of Puget Sound was also a 61-40 win. The team will now go on to play Transylvania University on March 8.

For the first time in school history, the Menomonie Mustangs Wrestling team went to Madison to compete in this year’s WIAA team state tournament! According to an interview with WQOW News 18, going to the tournament has been an ongoing goal for this particular team since their elementary school days. Their first match against Mukwonago on March 1 resulted in a 35-26 win. Though they lost their next match 35-29 to top-seeded Kaukauna in the state semifinals, the team is determined to return to state in the coming years.
