Mayo Clinic Health System has announced the opening of its latest round of grant opportunities for organizations in northwest Wisconsin that focus on community wellbeing.

Priority for both grant opportunities – the Hometown Health Grant and the School and Student Support Award – will be given to applications that align with Mayo Clinic Health Systems 2024 community health needs and strategic priorities:

  • Improve mental health with an emphasis on strengthening community mental health services and suicide prevention and supporting resiliency across the lifespan.
  •  Prevent obesity and reduce chronic disease with a focus on nutrition, reducing food insecurity and increasing public access to physical activity.
  • Prevent alcohol misuse and substance abuse with an emphasis on youth.
  • Champion health equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Support social determinants of health efforts, including transportation, housing, food, financial and personal safety needs.

According to a media release, two grant opportunities are:

HOMETOWN HEALTH GRANT

The Hometown Health Grant works in partnership with community-based nonprofit organizations and residents to translate their vision for healthy communities into visible, concrete, and sustainable changes and, ultimately, a healthier hometown.

Grants will be awarded in the range of $5,000 to $30,000 to be used between July 1, 2024, and July 31, 2025. Grant recipients are engaged for an entire year, and an outcomes report is required at the end of the funding cycle. Community partners in Mayo Clinic Health System in Northwest Wisconsin's service area are invited to apply for the Hometown Health Grant. Applications for the grant will be open from March 1–April 5.

SCHOOL AND STUDENT SUPPORT AWARD

In its fourth year, Mayo Clinic Health System offers its School and Student Support Award. This award supports innovative programming and learning opportunities that align with Mayo Clinic Health System's community health needs priorities, and directly benefit students. It is open to all pre-K through 12th grade public and private schools in Mayo Clinic Health System in Northwest Wisconsin’s service area.

Grant awards range from $1,000 to $8,000. Funding will be awarded for the 2024–25 school year.  Applications for the grant will be open from March 1–April 5.
