Unspooled Film Festival Accepting Submissions until April 1
filmmakers are invited to submit their work for the festival’s second year
V1 Staff |
Hosted by UW-Stout, the Unspooled Film and Animation Festival brought great success in its first iteration last year, bringing together student and professional filmmakers for three days of showings and networking. Back at it again, there is still time to submit your work to the festival before the April 1 deadline.
The juried show is accepting works in three categories: Short Films and Animations (runtime of less than 40 minutes), Feature Length Films and Animations (runtime of over 40 minutes), and Interactive and Augmented Reality. The submission fees for each category are $25 for standard and $5 for students.
The juried show will be held at the Harvey Hall Theatre (721 3rd Street E., Menomonie) from May 9-11. Thursday, May 9 will showcase student films and awards, Friday, May 10 will show independent films and awards, and Saturday, May 11 will show animation films and awards. Awards will be given in the following categories: Best Animated Film, Best Narrative Film, Best Documentary Film, Best in the Midwest, Best Student Feature, Best College Student Film, and Best High School Student Film.
The Unspooled Film and Animation Festival began last year as a way to support emerging and professional storytellers both locally and globally. The festival also includes workshops, filmmaker and creator panels, and guest speakers, to offer a place of learning as well as viewing.
