Jean Young is creating mixed media fiber art after 30 years of working with glass. She finds she cuts herself much less than she used to.
“Goat” (2022) 21” x 18 x 12” • Wool and silk fiber • From the artist: “ ‘Goat’ is part of a series of whimsical fantasy creatures that I enjoy designing. The inspiration came when a friend gifted me an old quilt that had been washed too aggressively, causing the wool batting to felt. The resulting fibers resembled dreadlocks which I dyed. The rest of the sculpture is wool and silk fiber that was formed using both needle felting and wet felting techniques.”
