INSIDE LOOK: Third Ward Historic Home Tours Return
second annual historic homes tour returns to Eau Claire neighborhood
Eau Claire native Fred Ayres, 96 years young, has provided lots of fun historical info on the Roosevelt Ave. home his father A. Owen Ayres built in 1936 known locally as “The Castle House." It’s one of six homes that are featured in the second annual Third Ward Neighborhood Association Home Tour on Sunday, Aug.11.
The tours are self-guided, but timed so that homeowners have an even flow of attendees during the afternoon event, held 2-5pm. The last ticketed time is 4:30pm, finishing at 5pm. The homes are all located near the Roosevelt Avenue Historic District and the next block on McKinley Avenue.
The homes are an example of mid-20rth century residences that have been lovingly restored and updated to make them comfortable, beautiful modern residences. A special thanks to the five homeowners who are participating and especially the four who are opening up their homes on McKinley.
Tickets are $30 and will include a booklet and map with photos of all the homes. Tickets can be ordered online.
The event will be held Sunday, Aug. 11, 2-5pm • For additional information, visit the Third Ward Neighborhood Association Facebook page and website
