BORN ANEW: E.C. Transplant Quiet Takes Releases New Single
musician Sarah Magill – aka Quiet Takes – puts down roots in the Valley
From her dreamy vocals to her introspective and moving lyrics, Sarah Magill’s new single “Meri Said (Spruce Street Version)” hits all the right notes.
Magill, who performs under the stage name Quiet Takes, initially released “Meri Said” on her first record Regrets Only last February. “Meri Said (Spruce Street Version)” is a stripped-down rendition of the song created, in her own words, “to capture that end-of-summer wistfulness.”
The single is accompanied by a music video that transports Quiet Takes and her viewers to a peaceful, calm forest. The video, created by Erik and Sarah Elstran (The Nunnery), makes the song feel familiar yet new, maintaining the warmth and comfort often evoked by Quiet Takes’ music while creating a sense of intimacy and vulnerability.
“Meri Said (Spruce Street Version)” was produced by Zach Hanson (Bon Iver, S. Carey, Gordi), who also recorded Magill’s debut album. In addition to Hanson, Quiet Takes crafted Regrets Only alongside influential local music artists Jeremy Boettcher (S. Carey), Ben Lester (S. Carey), Sean Carey (Bon Iver, S. Carey), and Tim Sullivan.
As for what’s next for Quiet Takes? After embracing a nomadic lifestyle for a few months, Quiet Takes found her permanent home in Eau Claire. At the moment, she’s helping set up local concerts, but there’s more to come: She’s launching a new radio program, as well as working on her second album.
