The height of COVID-19 was a time of isolation – and for some, a time to rediscover or find new activities to fill their days. For others, it was a chance to share passions and build a community online. The local brother duo of No-Eye-Deer, Aaron and Adam Sturgis, did just that.

The YouTube channel blossomed out of boredom during a time when there was nowhere left to go but outside. “It started with us buying ice fishing gear, doing a product review on the gear we bought, and then going out ice fishing for the first time in 30 years. It was a blast,” Aaron said.

Since then, the channel has evolved into a hub for all things outdoors.

“The No-Eye-Deer YouTube channel is all about sharing the excitement and authenticity of outdoor adventures,” Aaron said. “We cover the beauty and challenges of the outdoors that specifically pertains to Wisconsin, providing tips, stories, and experiences that inspire and inform viewers. Whether it’s taking our kids hunting, a cold day ice fishing, or testing gear that helps make the adventure better, No Eye Deer offers something for every outdoor enthusiast of any age.”

For the brothers, their teamwork is seamless. They balance the work evenly, ensuring neither feels like they’re “in charge.” To them, the channel is just a hobby, and if it ever starts to affect their friendship, they’re willing to call it quits.

“It has been fun. And I think the day that it is no longer fun or if it were to create tension between the two of us, then we would throw in the towel on this whole thing… because after all… this is totally meant to be a good time,” Aaron said.

For now, they focus on making each new video better than the last. They’re enjoying the space they’ve created online, figuring out what to record next to entertain their growing audience of 3.4k subscribers on YouTube and another 1.5k followers on Facebook and Instagram.

After all, “We have No-Eye-Deer what we’re doing,” Aaron said.
