GOING BACK DOWN SOUTH: Local Legends South Farwell Announce Reunion Concert
rootsy group’s May 3 performance at Stones Throw marks their first time on stage together in over five years
After more than a half decade apart, one of the Chippewa Valley’s favorite music groups is gracing the live stage again.
South Farwell, a rootsy rock ’n’ roll and R&B band based in Eau Claire, is set to play a reunion show on May 3 at the Stones Throw in downtown Eau Claire with special guest Wyatt Thomson. The group hasn’t played together since Decadent Cabaret in 2020, which took place just a few days before the pandemic shutdown.
“This band has always felt like a brotherhood,” said drummer Cory Dahl. “There is natural chemistry among us that has developed over the many years of playing live together. We have affinity for each other as musicians and love for one another like brothers. It feels natural for us to want to experience that again and continue on.”
Prior to going on hiatus, South Farwell made a name for itself in the area by playing dozens of shows since 2007, garnering fans through the group’s authentic soulful and singer-songwriter-tinged sound. The group released its lone solo album Tear Everything Down in 2009, with the primary focus being performing live.

While physical distance and other projects have kept the group apart for the entirety of the 2020s, attendees of South Farwell’s May reunion are in for a killer show. The group’s set will consist of original tracks from Tear Everything Down, as well as covers from bands such as The Black Crowes, The Allman Brothers Band, and much more.
While the members of South Farwell have been apart for quite awhile, they’re looking forward to bringing their fans back down south.
South Farwell’s reunion show is slated for 7pm Saturday, May 3, at Stones Throw (304 Eau Claire St., Eau Claire). Tickets are $10 at the door. For more information, visit facebook.com/southfarwell.
