EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED. Clear Water Comedy presents a weekly comedy showcase at 8 pm every Wednesday at The Plus, pictured. The show will feature a rotating cast of local comedians performing character work, sketch comedy, live game shows, and more. 

Clear Water Comedy and The Plus (208 S Barstow St.) have partnered to bring a new comedy experience, "LOUD SECRETS," to downtown Eau Claire. The comedy show will blend characters, themes — even live game shows — for an unpredictable and unexpected experience.

The variety show will take place weekly at 8pm on Wednesday nights — beginning May 21 — with a rotating cast of local comedians and performers. The first three shows will feature writing from local comedians Laura Buchholz, Ben Malachowski, and Jackson Johnson, an early media release writes.

The evocative title, LOUD SECRETS, has multiple meanings, Cullen Ryan, event coordinator and co-founder of Clear Water Comedy explained. The playful, flexible, and ephemeral name gives both the audience and the performers a chance to experience something different and more spontaneous through the live show.

“Live performance is literally the greatest thing in the world,” Ryan said. “It happens, and it's gone — LOUD SECRETS is just a way to convey that ‘this is a thing that is different every week, and you only get one shot to see it.’ ”

The show's content will vary week to week, but you won’t be able to see this experimental showcase anywhere else, the media release stated.

This experimental showcase will feature ever-changing material, ensuring each week offers a completely new experience for attendees. 

“(Getting together and making stuff is) not only fun — it's essential. It brings people together, and it's the only thing that truly matters — connections with each other, trying to make the world more tolerable and interesting and exciting and meaningful," Ryan said.
