CVSO's Young Artist Competition is Now Accepting Submissions
Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra's annual youth competition is back for its 37th year
Know a young'un with some serious musical talent? Let them know about the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra's (CVSO) annual Young Artist Competition!
Returning for its 37th year, the contest is open to students ages 14-18 who live in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, or Minnesota. Students can can submit a video of a concerto or aria performance through an online application, open now through Sept. 20.
After the submission window closes, five finalists will be chosen by CVSO Music Director Nobuyoshi Yasuda and awarded cash prizes. Then, those five finalists will go head-to-head during live performances on Oct. 11 – hosted at Gantner Concert Hall at UW-Eau Claire – which will determine the competition winner.
A three-judge panel will determine the winner, who will be awarded a $1,300 cash prize and gain the opportunity to perform with CVSO as a featured soloist during its February performance of "Peter and the Wolf."
