We get it. Personal injury lawyers and firms often come with a certain type of rep, furthered by flashy advertising stamped with promises of big payouts and the opportunity to stick it to The Man. The core of what it means to fight for people’s genuine rights and compensation owed is often lost.
From a marketing standpoint, those stereotypical — yet grand-sounding — sentiments appear to work for many. That just isn’t the way Will Pemberton works.
Cori Beesing experienced that stark contrast firsthand while working on marketing strategy for Will; Pemberton Personal Injury Law Firm has not done much in the way of traditional advertising since its founding in 2006, steadily growing in Wisconsin through word-of-mouth and real-world results.
“It is true that some people do, unfortunately, fit into a certain P.I. lawyer stereotype,” Cori said in a recent interview. “They advertise for and look at some work as “quick check” situations — that’s simply not the case with Pemberton P.I.”
Will Pemberton grew up in a single-parent household, moving around a lot during childhood. They relied on government support to aid their low-income level and leaned on extended family and their church community.
Spending segments of time throughout the Midwest while growing up, Will ultimately graduated from high school as a student-athlete in a small Wisconsin town. He had found a passion through sports — particularly, in football — and took that fervor into college, where he studied sports management.
“Eau Claire is a vibrant, hard-working community. We are committed to standing up for those have been injured through no fault of their own and need someone to fight for them.”
Today, Will is a personal injury lawyer with three offices: rooted in Baraboo, he expanded into Madison, and most recently into Eau Claire. But where did the pivot to law come from? The answer is simple: passion.
During the beginning of college, Will met his future wife, Angela. She was studying at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where Will would continue to work toward his sports management degree — and became interested in legal studies as an aid to that field. When he took his first litigation class, he felt immediate passion, and knew he’d be able to help those in need in a more hands-on way.
He ended up pursuing his law degree at Marquette Law School. There, he gained experience at a personal injury firm and transactional work before beginning his career at an insurance defense firm. In 2006, he took the leap and opened his own practice.
“Then, he handled a little bit of everything,” Cori recounted. “Criminal law, family cases, and a lot of time spent in the courtroom. That wide range of experience made the foundation of what Pemberton P.I. is today.
“But his personal history — growing up with a single mom, moving around, and needing to lean on community for support — fueled him in such a way that he began to focus on a specific kind of practice: personal injury.”
Will practices law with the same central pillar he leads his life with: faith.
“What’s most important to Will is being able to give back to people, and that is informed by his values and Christianity,” Cori said.
Those values also played a significant role in Pemberton P.I.’s recent expansion into Eau Claire. While additional personal injury firms exist in the area, Will and his team had received a significant amount of phone calls from folks living in the Chippewa Valley area.
“Our new office isn’t just about expanding our reach — it’s about being closer to those people who need us most,” Will said. “Eau Claire is a vibrant, hard-working community. We are committed to standing up for those who have been injured through no fault of their own and need someone to fight for them.
“Now, it will be so much more convenient for clients to receive that help, care, and justice they deserve.”
That’s the Pemberton Promise: Will Pemberton and his local attorney team promise to fight for every dollar you are owed, with no surprise fees; to ensure you always speak with a real person when you reach out for help; and to treat your case like it’s personal — because it is.
