COLUMN: The Creative Power of Paper
Paper Palette Company arrives to downtown Eau Claire, with artist workshops for every type of creative
Market research shows that people enjoy investing in experiences rather than material goods. Experiential purchases — those that form memories and moments — tend to significantly impact wellness and promote positive emotions.
Creating art is one experience that many people enjoy, but there are many mediums to explore, and there is no right or wrong way to find personal pleasure in the creative process.
After 19 years as a local art instructor, Beth Moga took on that challenge by creating Paper Palette Company (507 S. Barstow St, Eau Claire). This imaginative new business owner has created an inviting community space for artists, young and old alike, to come in and create things with paper.
Beth stated, “The catalyst for the endeavor began with my design of The Creative Planner. It’s part bullet journal, part sketchbook, and all heart. The Creative Planner was made for makers, dreamers, and doers — and it shows in every detail. The 8.5” x 11” planner holds 184 pages of mixed media paper — perfect for pen, pencil, or watercolor. It lays flat with an interior pocket for scraps, stickers, secrets and a Messy Mat you can wipe-clean.”
The company’s website shares a further description of her vision: “Paper Palette Company is a creative studio dedicated to fostering community, artistic growth, and hands-on exploration. Our space is a haven for artists of all ages to discover the beauty and versatility of paper art—where creativity is nurtured through workshops, classes, and thoughtfully designed paper goods.
“We blend the timeless craft of paper-making with modern organization, offering handcrafted products that are as practical as they are inspiring. Every piece we create is rooted in quality, sustainability, and personal expression — designed to bring both function and beauty into everyday life. Whether you're looking to learn a new skill, stay creatively organized, or simply make something beautiful, Paper Palette Company is where paper comes to life.”
“Watching Beth create PPC and build it from her knowledge and skills, both as an artist and educator, is nothing short of inspiring. She’s got a gift for making creativity accessible and meaningful to everyone,” Courtney Ledin, an visual arts educator said. “Beth has made this more than a space for creating art, it’s a place to build community, share knowledge, and encourage expression, which we all need more of.”
The Paper Palette Company doors will open this August in downtown Eau Claire on Barstow Street, and if you peek into their windows, you’ll see posters with upcoming art workshops including an Adult Workshop on Symmetrical Design and a youth Butterfly creation.
“I’m very excited for Beth on this new adventure. She is such a kind and creative soul,” Sam Campbell, an art instructor said. “I believe this new creative space will provide a place for kids and adults alike to explore their own creativity with the guidance of someone with years of experience. As a teacher I have so many students looking for more arts-based opportunities outside of school. This space is perfect for those kids!”
