What is your favorite fall tradition? Whether you grew up celebrating the mystical magic that comes along with Halloween’s festivities, or simply embrace the changing of the seasons and the chance to break out your favorite cozy sweater — it seems like there is always something new to cherish this time of year.

For the Volume One staff, and our community, this year we’re celebrating our annual Halloween Hauntings section (flip to page 32 of the Oct. 2 issue to see what spooktacular events and happenings the Chippewa Valley has in store) and the debut of the inaugural “Great Carved Pumpkin Contest & Creepy Courtyard Crawl.”

For the first time ever, friends, family, and the whole community are invited to help us transform the Local Store’s courtyard (which you may have noticed is currently undergoing its own facelift) into a Jack-O-Lantern lane.

With fun categories for all ages, everyone is welcome to complete for fun cash prizes. From Oct. 21-23, drop off your carved creations to the Volume One Headquarters (205 N. Dewey St., Eau Claire) and see locals’ works on display from Oct. 27-Nov. 1.
