Bin stores, which sell truckloads of returned, overstock and clearance items from major retailers, continue to pop up around the country and here in the Chippewa Valley. One area business in particular, DaaBIN STORE Eau Claire, intends to elevate its price-reduction strategy and showcase a bit of the entrepreneurial ethos along the way.
Here’s how DaaBIN STORE Eau Claire’s business model operates: pallet shipments of new in-packaging products arrive on a weekly basis; all items are first-come first-serve with deals beginning at $8 on Saturdays and lowering to just $1 prices on Wednesdays.
The Eau Claire location – part of a larger corporation with dozens of locations nationwide – frequently sees lines out the door with customers eager to take part in the treasure hunting experience.
Spencer Stevens, owner of DaaBIN STORE Eau Claire (2916 London Rd.) alongside his wife, Michelle, describes their family as “serial entrepreneurs” who have continued to find success amidst their varying business ventures as a couple.
"We have recently come into the Eau Claire community, but have felt so welcomed. We really appreciate the interactions, the people we have become friends with."

Their experience working together in corporate landscapes and owning their own print and sign shop in Minnesota led them to hone in on clientele needs, build relationships as small business owners and learn how to best prepare for economic shifts.
“We've always enjoyed the idea of being able to chart our own path,” Stevens said. “In doing so, we (both) learned a lot about how corporations work – the good and the bad; the ins and the outs.”
The idea to take part in DaaBIN STORE’s franchise model came about, following Stevens’ previous military deployment in 2022. His family, which currently resides in Baldwin, observed the welcoming environments of other “bin stores” in the area.

After several recurring visits – spanning trips all the way to Eau Claire to visit its own DaaBIN STORE model, which had first opened in 2023 – they began to consider the possibility of joining the collective.
“There was something about (bin stores) that just felt (like) there was a draw,” Stevens said. “We started the conversation with (DaaBIN STORE’s) corporate (team) for franchising, and that’s when we met Andy Weichers – the CEO of the company.”
In the spring of 2025, the Stevens acquired the Chippewa Valley's DaaBIN STORE franchise location in Eau Claire. The husband and wife duo saw their opportunity – with an offer they could not resist – and put their hearts into its operations, Stevens said.
Today, the London road storefront remains a family business, with the Stevens children serving in management roles or as general staff.
“Our middle child, and then our youngest child, are both in this operation and doing very well. The neat thing is to see them grow and seeing them in a different facet of their character and abilities,” Stevens said.

In addition to the standard weekly shipments and daily value deals for first-come attendees, DaaBIN STORE Eau Claire also experiments with different specialty events for select products. Its “Sin Bin” sales – hosted after hours, schedules depending – offer a party-like atmosphere for shoppers, who can purchase any inventory that’s intended for a 21-plus audience.
As the owners approach the one year mark since they took the leap into DaaBIN STORE’s franchises, Stevens said the greatest gift of all, has been the sense of community between loyal patrons of Eau Claire and employees.
“We have recently come into the Eau Claire community, but have felt so welcomed,” Stevens said. “We really appreciate the interactions, the people we have become friends with – it’s (all) very warming.
“I keep getting choked up about it, because it’s very important to me to have that connection – and we really do appreciate it,” he continued.
