“After the Storm“ by Ned Gannon

Ned Gannon is certainly hoping 2026 progresses better than it began. Until it improves, he will be off somewhere with his dog, his family, and a few good friends, trying to make space for art and as much kindness as he can muster for the world.

“After the Storm” (2021) • 20" x 28" • Acrylic • About the artwork, from the artist:

“ 'After the Storm' was painted during Covid when I was walking my dog, Storm, quite frequently along the trail from the high bridge and through the westside neighborhoods. In the spring I became quite enamored with all of the wildflowers and weeds that grew up along the side of the tunnel and the vivid nature of the colors and light as we emerged from the space underground - the mullien, field thistle, blazing star, or hoary vervain. The painting is part of a series in which I painted spaces from two perspectives. So I have a second painting of the tunnel from a different perspective. The title feels different since Storm passed away, but walking or hiking with a dog companion is one of my peace places and the memories are a permanent etching in my mind.
