“Lucy in the Sky“ by Don Olson

Don Olson is an artist from Chetek. He has had a interest in art since he can remember. He was interested in drafting and architecture in college but soon found that painting canvases more rewarding and fulfilling. He is mostly a self-taught artist and has won many awards regionally. His adventures have taken him to the West in Utah and Colorado to paint the last 10 years. But the Northwoods are very special to him.

“Lucy in the Sky” • About the artwork, from the artist: “The sky has been a focus of mine for awhile now. For me it has been the space filled with dreams, mysteries, emotional, and spiritual feelings. This painting has been in my head for awhile since experiencing it. The storm was breaking apart and spinning catching all kinds of colors in the light. A magical moment. Nature inspires me. It flows through me and comes out in a painting.”

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a message.
