Over its 45-year history, Decadent Cabaret continues to shine with its latest annual music and entertainment. From March 5-7 at the Brickhouse Pub & Grub (2233 Birch St., Eau Claire) – the event’s longtime home – 40-plus musicians local to the area “set the stage ablaze” with their talents.

“We are the caretakers of an event that has been around since 1980,” Andrew Liss, a co-organizer for Decadent Cabaret, shared online following the weekend-long event. “Think about that for a second. Forty-six years ago. You think about some of our youngest participants this past weekend and that is more than double their age.”

This year's talent showcased a diverse range of genres, from indie punk rock and shoegaze to ambient improvisations and cover bands – a mix which defies one singular categorization.

Veteran performers of Decadent Cabaret included the Jim Pullman band, The Jaggernauts, Giants Of Midgard, Once More Autumn, Uncommon Denominator, Valleykil and dozens more.

Eau Claire's own Faun Haus, formerly Gossip Bench, was among the newer bands at the event, who performed covers of nationally-recognized artists like Tame Impala; they offered a unique spin of synth, bass and vocals which attendees sang and danced along with.

After all, as Liss shared, organizers of Decadent Cabaret will continue to host this confluence of musical ensembles for the “love of the local music scene.”

“We do it for the love of seeing everything and everyone come together. We do it in the hopes that we can somehow help bridge the past to the future,” Liss continued.
