Organizers of the Eau Claire Marathon were eager to welcome over 800 runners, walkers, kiddos and pups to the starting line of the second annual F-EAU-rth of July 5k, Kids' Run and Dog Run.

On Saturday, July 4, local 5k runners began the race day at 8am sharp – at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus' Hibbard Hall – to begin their routes through notable neighborhoods in downtown Eau Claire. Starting runners were quickly followed by the Dog Run start time at 8:05am; Kids' Run start time began at 9:15am.

"This was my husbands and dogs first 5k, and they are both hooked," Eau Claire Marathon attendees shared online. "Seeing all the dogs running is priceless. Plus some of the best themed swag."

Thanks to sponsors throughout the course, locals had the chance to enjoy morning coffees from Dunkin' Donuts, purchase Eau Claire Marathon gear and pass through the Metropolis Resort's sprinkler activations – the perfect chance to cool off throughout and at the finish line.
