On Saturday, Aug. 8, The Venue (209 Graham Ave., Eau Claire) once again became a scene for experimentation and collaboration during a one-night performance featuring Hadean, Soul Circuits, among others.
Soul Circuits of Minneapolis, Minn., brought a blend of electronic music, country, and folk – paired best with violin, deep synths and candid songwriting for today's modern times. The band arrived to Eau Claire – the first stop on their latest tour across the Midwest – before heading to Madison, Chicago, Ill. and other notable dive bars across the region.
The evening's mixed bill was complemented by supporting acts houseDog and Eric Bertrand who, together, offered a surprisingly compatible blend of dad rock headbangers and heartwrenching acoustics. A longtime musician in the Eau Claire scene, the night became a celebration of Bertrand's return to the stage – his first solo show in over 14 years.
At this 21-plus event, the self-described progressive metal band, Hadean – hailing from right here in Eau Claire – brought attendees a taste of heavy guitar-driven riffs along with technical musicianship from its five band members. The moshing was absolutely sublime during their set, as Hadean closed out the night.
You just had to be there to fully experience it! But if you missed out, here are over a dozen-plus photos to recap all the highlights of the night.
