BLACK KETTLE TEA SHOPPE AND BOOTIQUE JUST OPENED THIS FALL in downtown Eau Claire (217 Barstow St.) but it hasn’t stopped rolling out new goodies yet, including a cool monthly event it now hosts: Ghouls Night Out. On the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm, the local tea shop hosts free spooky movie screenings for the public! Popcorn, candy, and of course, tea (for purchase) is available for folks to gobble down and sip on during the movie. Its first Ghouls Night Out was in November and featured A Nightmare Before Christmas. Keep up the shop online to find out what movie will be shown for free next.

LOCAL FILMMAKER TIM SCHWAGEL JUST PUBLICLY RELEASED CHOPPING BLOCK, his short film that just wrapped up its time on the circuit this year, showing at the Beloit International Film Festival and the Door County Short Film Festival. Starring Laine Vanden Boom, Asiah Doyle, and Molly Barnes, Schwagel wrote and directed the dramedy with Nick Houchin as director of photography. Head to bio.site/timschwagel to watch it and Schwagel’s other work.

AT THE EAU CLAIRE MICON THEATER, A NEW MOVIE-INSPIRED WINDOW MURAL IS NOW ON DISPLAY, this time in celebration of Avatar: The Way of Water, the long-awaited sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar. After seeing the movie myself alongside co-editor Sawyer Hoff, we have to admit, its three-hour runtime is fitting for its story and doesn’t drag, each scene visually stunning and wholly entertaining. But to each their own … regardless of thoughts on the movie, the Micon mural is certainly a work to behold.
