The annual Youth Rock Hunt is underway and the chance for your kiddo to enjoy the thrill of the hunt – and win cash! – will only be here for a handful of days!
As part of the Rock the Riverfront featuring the Charity Classic event, the Youth Rock Hunt kicked off this year on June 2 and will run until 11:59pm on June 10 or until all rocks have been found. Youth ages 13 and younger can get in on the action, with a total of 8 rocks up for grabs. One rock is hidden in each of these area communities: Altoona, Chippewa Falls, Colby, Eau Claire, Medford, Menomonie, Rice Lake, and Whitehall.
The treasure at the end of each successful rock hunt? A Royal Credit Union Piggy Bank with $50 cash! If you’re lucky enough to find a hidden rock, return it to any Royal Credit Union (RCU) office to redeem your prize. (A parent or guardian must be present for youth(s) to claim their prize.)
Additional clues about the hidden rocks’ locations will be released on Royal Credit Union’s social media channels on Monday, June 5, at 12pm. The Classic Rock Hunt, open to all ages, starts on Monday, June 19, with one grand prize of $500.
2023 is the 29th year of the Rock the Riverfront-Charity Classic event. Hosted by the Royal Credit Union Foundation, the annual run/walk benefits three workforce development organizations voted on by community members. This year’s local organizations in the running are: Junior Achievement of Wisconsin Northwest Area, L.E. Phillips Career Development Center, and Workforce Resource, Inc. Votes will determine which organization places first-third, first place winning $15,000, second place winning $7,500, and third place winning $5,000.
The run/walk will be held on Saturday, June 24, offering a 10k, 2-mile, and two youth races. From 8am-12:30pm, food trucks, family games, and more will be held in Phoenix Park – right on the riverfront!
