SUMMERTIME FLICKS: 3 Local Summer Movie Series to Enjoy
head out to see a variety of classics and new faves at these seasonal series events
Hey, I love Micon Cinemas’ comfy recliner seats and buttery popcorn as much as the next person (actually, it’s kind of an addiction – I'm a frequent $5 Tuesday flyer), but these seasonal movie series are only happening during our precious warm months. From Eau Claire to Altoona to Menomonie, here are some options to spice up your summer evenings.
UWEC Summer Cinema
Held at the campus mall on UW-Eau Claire’s campus, this annual series is free to attend and features yard games and free snacks, too. Grab some lawn blankets or lounge chairs and spread out – there’s plenty of room! In case of inclement weather, the events are moved to the Woodland Theater on Davies Center’s third floor.

Mabel’s Movie Series
For some historic flair in a grand venue, The Mabel Tainter is hosting three flicks in its beautiful theater. Thanks to a large projector screen in the historic theater, enjoy any of these three favorites and enjoy popcorn with their old-fashioned popcorn maker. The Mabel’s speakeasy-style cocktail lounge, The Spirit Room, is downstairs to order beverages that can be taken into the theater.
