QUICK BITES: Five Fast Foodie News Items In The Chippewa Valley
Indian cuisine is coming to former Five Guys spot at Oakwood Mall, Condesa eyes October opening and more
Hello Hyderabad Expands Area’s Indian Cuisine Scene
As first reported by yours truly earlier this summer, Minnesota restauranteur Sasi Nimmigadda was set on expanding his Hyderabad Indian Grill chain to Wisconsin for the first time – in Eau Claire.
That business vision was realized on Aug. 5, when Hello Hyderabad opened its doors at 2831 Hendrickson Dr., Eau Claire (most recently occupied by Subway, though it had been shuttered for a couple years).
The modest 1,500-square-foot space – which offers some in-house seating as well as carry-out through third-party delivery services – is serving up a variety of Indian dishes, including freshly baked naan, curries, butter chicken, samosas and Hyderabad’s popular biryani.
Hello Hyderabad is open daily from 10am-11:45pm and can be found on Facebook. Learn more about the Eau Claire restaurant at VolumeOne.org.
New India Curry House Plans Oakwood Mall Opening
The Chippewa Valley may finally have something of an Indian cuisine scene, now that there are two standalone Indian restaurants (New Maharaja in Chippewa Falls, Hello Hyderabad in Eau Claire) and, soon, two Indian eateries in the Oakwood Mall (4800 Golf Rd., Eau Claire).
Mango Indian opened in the mall’s food court back in 2018, then operating as the only officially Indian eatery in Eau Claire. Now, per social media posts and a new listing on Oakwood Mall’s website, a new sit-down restaurant at the mall is “coming soon.”
New India Curry House, which also has a food truck, will open at the former Five Guys location – not in the food court, but near the HOM Furniture end-cap. According to its website, the restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, each with its own menu.
Dinner meal prices seemingly range from around $15-$35 while lunch meals never cross the $16 mark.
No opening date has been officially announced yet.

Condesa Eyes October Opening in Downtown Eau Claire
Also reported first by yours truly, Eau Claire’s first Brazilian and fusion-style steakhouse, Condesa Grill, will be the first tenant to open its doors at Haymarket Landing’s river-facing, ground-level commercial spaces.
According to owner JP Nunez, whose family is perhaps best known as the operators of Cancun Restaurant across the Chippewa Valley (but are not involved in his new venture), Condesa Grill will open sometime this October.
Condesa Grill will sprawl over 7,000 square feet, with some 50 seats in the bar alone. The main dining room will offer a look into the kitchen, where a wood-fired grill will be on display as part of the experience.
As Nunez shared with Volume One this spring, its menu – tailored by a “Michelin-trained, spectacular executive chef consultant” – will be anchored by prime-grade steaks and familiar steakhouse sides like fresh vegetables, plus fresh seafood including wood-fired oysters, as well as empanadas and Latin-inspired dishes.
Keep up with Condesa Grill on social media for updates. Learn more about the restaurant on VolumeOne.org.
That’s a Wrap Dishes Up Wraps, Detroit-Style Pizza & More On The Way
That’s a Wrap: Eats & More opened its doors just over a week ago at 19 W. Central St., Chippewa Falls. According to its social media, Detroit-style pizza, dessert and a few more specials are “coming soon” as the biz settles in.
For now, the menu includes build-your-own gourmet wraps – big 12-inch handhelds that start out with your choice of seven wrap options (garlic and herb, tomato basil, chipotle, gluten free, etc.) and include proteins, veggies, cheese and sauce.
Specialty wraps are around the $15 mark (“The Kiddo,” meant for kiddos, is just $4.99) and include the Chicken Bacon Ranch, Steak, “The Bethke” (a nod to area musician Brian Bethke, perhaps?), among others.
Try out the new restaurant between 11am-midnight, Tuesday-Saturday, and keep up with them on Facebook.
New Mexican Restaurant to Open at Former Manny’s Cocina
As local realty company Property Minds announced online in July, a new restaurant is opening at 4207 Oakwood Hills Pkwy, Eau Claire, formerly the longtime home of Manny’s Cocina.
Per social media hubbub – the Eau Claire Foodies Facebook page – Oleo could hold a soft opening as soon as the end of this month, though the restaurant’s official Facebook page has not made any announcements.
While I can’t nail down an exact closing date of the Manny’s Cocina in Eau Claire – it was open through Fall 2025 at least; online listings in early June noted the property was up for sale as a "turn-key restaurant" with a "transferable liquor license" – the Onalaska location is still open.
Keep up with Oleo on Facebook for updates.
