[PHOTOS] UP AGAINST THE BEST: International Chess Master Visits Eau Claire
local chess enthusiasts were brought together thanks to a visit from John Bartholomew

John Bartholomew, an International Master (IM) of chess and globally popular YouTube educator, swung by the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library for a simultaneous exhibition on Saturday, Feb. 22. Locals were invited to a Q&A with Bartholomew before facing off with the IM. With space for 28 boards, one person was able to snag a draw with the expert chess player – though the true point of the event, to get area chess players together, which was certainly achieved.
