The centuries-old tales of William Shakespeare continue to serve current day audiences, from the traditional theater to stages in the outdoors. This past weekend, July 10-11, the Menomonie Theater Guild brought the humorous "As You Like It" to life through the latter – and with a modern lens.

Menomonie's Wilson Park (815 8th St. E) and bandshell (acting as the story's Forest of Arden) played host to the heartwarming pastoral play, directed by Alice Langby and open to the public for free. 

As described by the local theater organization, viewers follow main character Rosalind who, upon banishment from court, escapes to the Forest of Arden. "It's a heartwarming celebration of love, friendship and finding yourself in the most unexpected places," the Guild wrote online.

Tickets to the Menomonie Theater Guild's next production – "Alice in Wonderland Jr." directed by Katie Talberg – are now on sale for its July 31-Aug. 2 run.
