Chi-Hi Students Plan Outdoor Movie Night

Katy Macek |

Students in a Chippewa Falls High School class are giving families an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company and get out of the house by attending the Chippewa Falls Outdoor Movie and Fun Night. The Friday, May 13, event on the football field near Hillcrest Elementary School features inflatables, a concession stand, several activities for children, and back-to-back showings of Cars and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. Andrew Behnke’s entrepreneurship and retail management students are working together to put on the event, managing aspects of the project such as marketing, buying equipment, and handling expenses. Senior Alex Fabian, who is in charge of marketing, said they’re really focused on making it a family event, especially targeting a younger audience. “Kids are so stuck with technology, not paying attention to one another,” he said. “Our main focus is to bring people together.” To cover expenses, students are seeking sponsors, and Fabian said they’re still looking for several more. A small portion of the event’s proceeds will go to each student, 15 percent will go to a charity of their choosing, and the rest will go back to Behnke’s next class for their project. The fun begins at 7pm, with the movie starting at dusk. Admission is free for children five and under, $6 for 6-12 year olds and $8 for those 13 and older.
