A Hopeful Path Toward Peace Of Mind
Caring Transitions honors clients’ stories through senior relocation, downsizing services and growth of CTBids online auctions
Rooted in a mission to transform the lives of seniors and their families, the Caring Transitions staff is always on the move — quite literally.
This organization’s work extends beyond a traditional business model — offering full-service moving, estate sales, and final clean out services — with the goal of simplifying these life changes for residents of the Chippewa Valley.
Since taking ownership of Caring Transitions in 2024, Erin Swoboda and her husband Greg have continued to foster a growth mindset amongst the team and the services they provide.
With the continued support of their Project Manager, Sara Bowe and Move Manager, Emily Simpson, the staff all work in tandem to determine best practices to support clients and simplify the process of transitioning to a new living environment.
“Those full service moves are really the area of the business that we’ve been able to grow,” Swoboda said. “Sometimes people look at a transition as a scary thing, and really, it’s a new adventure.”
For four years, Bowe has been a valuable member of the Caring Transitions team. Her ability to meet client needs in an organized and efficient manner led to her promotion to the Project Manager program last year.
Bowe said the positive impact brought to clients’ lives through simplifying the moving or purchasing process, continues to drive her leadership on the team.
“We try to make it as smooth as possible, clean up their stuff, and make it look new again,” Bowe said. “Seeing the family’s happiness and relief after (Caring Transitions) comes in — it’s amazing.”
Simpson, who joined the Caring Transitions team in the last year, brings over a decade of experience working in senior health care-related roles.

She values the intention and attentiveness the Caring Transitions team brings to each client visit and move — as they support families and seniors through significant lifestyle shifts.
At the end of the day, her team finds joy in helping others find ease as they embark on these new journeys, she said.
“If you can be able to provide (clients) a service that gives them peace of mind during a really stressful time — and be a calming presence for them — I think that is really important,” Simpson said. “Compassion is really part of the business of what we’re doing.”
Not only does Caring Transitions continue to provide regional relocation services, downsizing support, and home cleanouts, they are looking ahead to expanding their reach in the Chippewa Valley to national estate sales through their CTBids online auctioning.
With this new service, Caring Transitions staff will provide clients with a “streamlined support system” to collect, categorize, and price valued belongings to be sold online for buyers who will bring new life to a person’s treasured items, Swoboda shared.
“It’s a great option when we have somebody (a client), with many collectibles that have a value,” Swoboda said. “CTBids online auctions allows us to be even more creative when it comes to how we handle individual items for liquidation purposes.”
In the time Swoboda and her growing team have expanded Caring Transitions over the past year, she continues to reflect on past and present stories of clients and families in the region, who have benefitted from their services. “It’s really about seeing the person for who they are,” Swoboda said.
Both Bowe and Simpson are equally driven by the countless stories of clients, families and friends who have found relief through Caring Transitions services.
Most often, the organization’s free consultations — where both staffers meet one-on-one with prospective clients — offer the chance to learn more about individuals’ stories and find the humanity in these services.
“We approach everything with empathy,” the two shared, as they actively worked on a full-service move for a client. “(Caring Transitions) just tries to be something that gives them a little bit of joy in a really difficult time, or gives them a little bit of hope when things feel overwhelming.”
