A new Dunn County park encourages locals to do one thing: play.

WoodWind Park, which officially opened last winter, has already offered opportunities for snow tubing, skiing, hiking, and biking, but – this summer – the park looks to add a new music series, food truck festival, and sand volleyball and soccer to the mix.

“Every day will be an adventure,” said owner Meagan Frank. Formerly Deepwood Ski & Golf, this newly envisioned park offers countless recreation opportunities year round, as well as event venue space for weddings, formal events, showers, concerts, and reunions. On Friday and Saturday evenings from June through August, visitors can enjoy juicy eats from local food trucks – including Chippewa Valley Cheesesteak, Hoyt Bros. Paninis, Live Great Food, and Consuming Fire – as well as a forthcoming food truck from WoodWind Park. This food truck will offer steak on a stick, hot dogs, and burgers, and the potential for guest chefs and formal foods for weddings and other special events.

Along with enjoying good eats, be sure to check out the new music series that will run alongside the food trucks, which will feature local artists such as Wardens of Wandering, Uncle Brew and Pirate Charly, False Heather, The Cutaways, Weapons of Brass Destruction, Home-Grown Tomatoes Band, Joyann Parker Band, and the Mojo Lemon Blues Band. But the music and food doesn’t deter from the park’s purpose: to play.

By the end of June, WoodWind Park will have sand volleyball and soccer set up, and plans to groom trails for robust mountain biking opportunities. Locals are also encouraged to check out the hiking trails on the property – including the Ridge Hike, which features a one-mile trek and steep hill, as well as their family-friendly prairie walks, which feature stunning spring fauna.

If you’re looking for new ways to get outside, families can also sign up for their “Running Nuts” Father’s Day 5K on June 20, which will be any time from 9am-3pm at the park. The race will be self-timed and include food trucks, music, and a small scavenger hunt – which may or may not include beer!
