The Menomonie Public Library plans to enhance its outdoor space overlooking Lake Menomin thanks to $100,000 donation from Mayo Clinic Health System.
The library announced in late November that it has received the gift from the Mayo Clinic Health System Northwest Wisconsin Community Giving Committee for its Outdoor Space Project.
“Recognizing the many ways this investment will impact the health and well-being of the Menomonie community and knowing what an incredible partner the library has been in community wellness efforts, we are confident this donation towards the library aligns well with our priorities of meeting the needs of our patients in Dunn County and beyond,” said Jenny Jorgensen, a community engagement specialist with Mayo Clinic Health System.
Earlier this year, the Menomonie Public Library unveiled places to enhance its outdoor area, such as through the addition of an outdoor lounge for library visitors which will include tables and chairs, a fire feature, shade trees, and even a hammock lounge. The waterfront area will be connect to existing city walking and biking trails. In addition to the Mayo gift, the project will be funded with a $77,000 annuity donation from the estate of Joan Polasky, a longtime library lover, and a $44,250 Vibrant Spaces grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. announced last summer.
"Since public funding does not cover all of the library’s costs, the library is extremely grateful for generous donations such as this so it can continue to make a positive impact in the lives of people in Dunn County,” the library said in a media release.
