Now in its fourth year, Collectors Day keeps expanding. The annual event will return to Rassbach Museum (1820 John Russel Rd., Menomonie) on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 1-4pm.

The free event, which celebrates collectors and their collections, offers fun for all ages. Attendees may see familiar collectibles as well as truly unique and unusual collections.

John Hempel of Eau Claire has gathered nearly 6,000 insects from all over the world, as well as around the area and the state, for over 57 years. He’ll be sharing 1,500 of them in table-top display cases, each insect pinned into neat rows for display under glass.

The Badger Wheels Chapter, a local chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club, will host a car show. This group focuses on the restoration and preservation of Studebaker vehicles.

The Dunn County Historical Society will share its collection of vintage fishing lures handmade by a Menomonie resident.

Other collections featured this year include: action figures, antique tools and documents, bells, breweriana (that’s beer things); doll houses, fish-shaped bottles, insects, Josef originals ceramic or porcelain vintage figurines, myrtlewood, paper dolls, soda bottles, swans, tin toys, and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestling memorabilia, as well as many other amazing collections.

This year, exhibiting collectors range in age from seven to 94. Attendees can chat with the collectors and learn the history of their treasures, which is often as interesting as the items in the collection. The collections vary from small and newly started to large collections gathered over years.

There will also be a silent auction featuring starter collections with a special “Buy It Now” option for those who don’t want to wait for the auction to end. The collections up for auction include: a curiosity collection, a Green Bay Packer collection with a 2024 Give Back Packers football, a junk drawer collection, cigarette cards, coins, crystals, Disney pins, keys, Lego mini- figures, marbles, Mickey and Minnie Mouse items, NASCAR cars, swizzle sticks, tea pots, tie tacks, and walking stick medallions.

Attendees can also try out the pressed penny machine that features five historic Dunn County locations for 51 cents per pressed penny.
