BUILD YOUR NEST. Over the past year, Birdie’s Gathered Goods (3029 N. Hastings Way, Eau Claire) has continued to expand its rotating collection of vintage, refurbished and new collectibles. Tammy Hurt, the owner behind Birdie’s, attributes her passion for sourcing, restoring and interior styling to her family.

If your heart skips a beat at the sight of treasures marked by the passing of time and handmade gifts – paired with a cup of coffee in hand – consider this your friendly reminder to stop by Birdie’s Gathered Goods (3029 N. Hastings Way, Eau Claire).

Walking into the vintage shop, the thrill of the hunt becomes almost as satisfying as finding that one piece that could become the very item you walk out the door with. Since Birdie’s first opened its doors in 2025, visitors can take home goods with the very same creative flair that permeates through the storefront.

Owner behind the operation, Tammy Hurt, attributes her deep-seated passion for sourcing, restoring and interior styling to her parents’ unique influences.

“I’ve always decorated with the things that tell a story or just make me happy,” Hurt said. “My mom’s knack for decorating with estate sale items and my dad’s love of restoring old automobiles gave me my passion for vintage home decor and antiques.”

“It birthed in me a longing to find that one unique piece I could take home to repurpose into something new,” she continued.

With these values at the core of Hurt’s identity, she continues to source antique dressers, heirloom furniture in the form of tables, sofas, statement chairs, fine art and home goods in a variety of seasonal styles.

“The name (Birdie’s) also reflects our store in that just like a little bird building a nest, we have gathered many different goods to help you make your home a place you want to be.” –Tammy Hurt, owner of Birdie’s Gathered Goods

Birdie’s currently offers a diverse spectrum of finds, with price points from $10 to upwards of $500 for those one-of-one collectibles. Patrons frequently gravitate toward smaller collectibles – from coffee mugs and T-shirts to locally made skincare products – though Hurt’s curated vintage home decor is a primary draw.

“We rotate displays every month, adding new and vintage inventory often,” Hurt said. “Mid-Century Modern (styles are) very popular with younger couples just starting to furnish their homes.”

She partners with area vendors to curate Birdie’s inventory, then staff work to stage and decorate the sales floor. This approach to the shop’s cohesive atmosphere helps patrons visualize how each vintage find might appear in their own living spaces.

The shop can also double as a rentable event space, Hurt said, which seats up to 80 guests for gatherings of all types.

Birdie's Gathered Goods is connected to Legacy Coffee (pictured above) through a shared hallway.

Birdie’s creative roots owe its existence to the evolution of the family’s sister ventures: Sweet Legacy, the family’s original event design and rental company, and the adjoining Legacy Coffee shop. All of which – Birdie's, Sweet Legacy and Legacy Coffee – are owned and operated by members of the Hurt family.

Thanks to those literal connections to Birdie’s, patrons can enjoy a hot or iced cup of coffee from the adjoining café (the two shops are connected through a shared doorway inside) while browsing through the shop’s collection. The brick-and-mortar vintage shop also doubles as a rentable event space, which seats up to 80 guests for gatherings of all kinds.

Hurt’s refurbished goods serve as just one of the many tributes to the local community, integrated throughout the space. The interior of Birdie’s is further enhanced by many salvaged pieces from the Valley’s former community hubs and businesses.

Notably, the storefront houses the original jade-colored checkout counter once utilized at Woo’s Pagoda restaurant on Hastings Way in Eau Claire.

One of the sweetest nods to the Chippewa Valley and the Hurt’s family would be that of its namesake, an homage to her granddaughter.

“Birdie’s is my granddaughter’s nickname,” Hurt said. “The name also reflects our store in that just like a little bird building a nest, we have gathered many different goods to help you make your home a place you want to be.”

This summer season, the shop will expand its creative reach with a recurring outdoor vendor market held from 9am-3pm once a month on Saturdays in the Birdie’s parking lot. Each event will spotlight a curated selection of Chippewa Valley vintage collectors, small-batch makers and antique dealers.

Locals are encouraged to follow the storefront’s social media platforms (@birdiesgatheredgoods) to see which vendors appear at each month’s market.
