Sid Harvey’s Family Diner may be just over one year old since opening last April in Chippewa Falls, but it’s already made major strides in its menu, service, and now, its look. The diner (704 E. Grand Ave.), which was previously known as Bresina’s Old Home Restaurant, underwent a major renovation to the dining area, starting from the ground up.
Co-owner Bryce Ploeckelman said the main thing they needed to replace was the flooring, switching out the carpet, and laying down crisp new tile. Fresh paint has livened up the walls and wood detailing, and while the new vibe of the dining area is certainly noticeable, Sid Harvey’s team isn’t done yet. The dining area will see further renovations and changes in the future, and the owners have plans for the outside of the eatery as well.
Sid Harvey’s officially hit its one-year anniversary on April 15, though the owners plan to throw a summertime shindig to celebrate, inviting all to come on out once they nail down a date.
“We haven’t officially set a date yet, (but) we’re hoping to have a nice big cookout and do a big giveaway,” Ploeckelman said. “Kind of like a meet-and-greet again because last year we were still getting our feet under us. We want to meet more people or invite people back who maybe tried it last year and didn’t love it yet, because we’re doing great things now.”
The diner’s breakfast is a popular go-to for locals, with the menu spanning skillets, biscuits and gravy, omelets, and more – Ploeckelman recommends the Philly Cheesesteak Omelet – though just this spring, the diner added another offering with their Friday Fish Fry in mind: beer.
Ploeckelman said the team was prompted to add the beer and wine to the menu to round out the Friday Fish Fry experience, for those who like to enjoy a beer with their meal.
The lunch menu offers a wide array of grub as well, servin’ up more than a dozen kinds of burgers – including the Belly Buster Burger, Hangover Burger, and Pizza Burger – and more than 10 sandwiches, plus sandwich and soup options. With a kids menu and dinner menu too, Ploeckelman said the team is excited to have expanded their offerings.
“We’ve come a long way in a year,” Ploeckelman said. “We’ve expanded the menu quite a bit, expanded the staff we have, and we’re making strides every day. So, come back around; we’ve definitely gained a lot of people who trust us and our cooking.”
Keep an eye on Sid Harvey’s Family Diner, either for their continuous renovations or the announcement of their one-year summer shindig. Have an omelet for us, too.
