Dr. Hebert, Stephanie Brantner, and Dr. Tarpenning
When Eau Claire dentist Dr. Tom Hebert opened the doors to his own practice 50 years ago, his vision was simple but profound: create a place where every employee and patient would feel like family. He wanted people to walk in and immediately sense calm, and leave knowing they had received care marked by true skill, compassion, and excellence.
Today, as Hebert Dental (4710 Commerce Valley Rd) celebrates half a century of service in the Chippewa Valley, that vision is more alive than ever. Now owned by CEO Stephanie Brantner and Dr. Sean Tarpenning, the practice continues to embody the spirit of family — both within the team and with every patient who walks through its doors.
“We support each other, love each other like family, and it’s the same for our patients,” Brantner said. “They feel cared for, valued, and truly seen — not just another number.”
Stephanie’s journey with Hebert Dental began 17 years ago, though her connection stretches back even further, to her time working with Dr. Hebert’s uncle, “Louie.” Since officially stepping into dentistry in 2008, she has worn many hats in the practice, each one deepening her commitment to building confidence and joy through healthy smiles.
“We support each other, love each other like family, and it’s the same for our patients. They feel cared for, valued, and truly seen — not just another number.”
In 2022, Dr. Hebert passed the baton to Brantner, entrusting her with the role of CEO—a responsibility she embraces with his same passion for accessible, compassionate care.
For Dr. Tarpenning, who has been with Hebert Dental for 25 years and part owner for 20, this commitment is deeply personal. Known for his dedication to restorative dentistry — and countless hours of continuing education — his joy comes not just from caring for patients, but from being part of their lives.
“There’s nothing more special than seeing families grow up,” Dr. Tarpenning said. “We all love seeing our patients — it brings us so much joy knowing we can help improve their lives, even in small ways.”
This sense of connection is also woven into the heart of the team. With 38 employees—many of whom have been with the practice for five, 10, or even 15 years — the culture at Hebert Dental is one of growth, loyalty, and shared purpose. “Seeing how much our staff cares for patients, and how much they love what they do, is incredibly rewarding,” Brantner added.

The Hebert Dental Team
In June, patients, families, and staff came together to celebrate 50 years of smiles with a summer appreciation event — just one of the many ways Hebert Dental shows gratitude for the community that has trusted them for generations.
Whether it’s a simple cleaning, dental implants, crowns, or cosmetic care, patients leave not only with healthier smiles, but with the reassurance that they are in the hands of people who truly care.
Blending the latest technology with timeless values, Hebert Dental carries forward the neighborly warmth and compassion that Dr. Hebert first imagined.
“When you’re working on something as personal as someone’s smile, it has to be personal,” Dr. Tarpenning said. “That’s what we strive for every day.”
Most importantly, the team has helped countless patients overcome their fear of the dentist, replacing it with comfort, trust, and even joy. As Brantner notes, “That says so much about Dr. T and all of our doctors — they make patients feel at ease and even excited to come back.”
