One of the best winter activities for some exercise across snowy terrain is on a pair of skis, and cross-country skiing trails are well-loved throughout the Chippewa Valley. Voted the best around are the trails at Beaver Creek Reserve. Great for all levels, they host beginner classes and rent equipment on site for their 9 miles of trails. In second place, Tower Ridge Recreation Area is a favorite, its 12 miles of wooded trails, uneven terrain, and challenging options are great for more advanced skiers. In third, Lowes Creek County Park features 250 acres of trails that follow along beautiful Lowes Creek. —Kelly Carlson
